Following the controversy of the Countryman's cup exit this season, they were keen to show their hand against the losing finalists from last week.
The game quickly settled into a pattern with the Countryman's midfield taking control and dictating the play. Tor Sports threatened on the break with some good pace, but a solid defence held for the first half. The Countryman took the lead on the half hour with a fine passing move through the midfield and out to the right wing. The resulting cross eluded all defenders to fall nicely on the volley for Tom Culliford to finish with style.
The second half saw Tor Sports make a couple of changes, but the Countryman retained early control. A tight game was brought to life ten minutes into the second half when Colin Blatchford-Brown scored with a half volley from just over the half way line from a fine header on from Dave Little in the midfield.
Tor Sports then got themselves back into the game with a goal back exploiting a defensive slip up. The goals kept coming amid controversy as Steve Shephard scored from the penalty spot to take the score to 3-1 Countryman. The Tor Sports goalkeeper could not take the penalty award and was sent off shortly after the conversion for arguing with the referee.
Credit to Tor Sports though as they came straight back into the game with another goal. The subsequent award of a penalty of their own, duly converted, levelled the scores at 3-3.
With minutes left a reshuffle in formation saw Adam Culliford appear on the far post to score with a left foot volley to grab all three points for the Countryman side.
