SOMERSET CUP, 2ND ROUND:
In a good-natured home tie against Bath side Talbot Wanderers, Woolavington had numerous opportunities to put the game out of reach and eventually managed to secure a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Matt Blackmore, Wayne Barry and Tim Netto.
Eastover Wanderers were also in action against a Bath side, but found the going a lot more difficult having been drawn away to the impressive Larkhall Athletic. Larkhall proved to be far too strong for Wanderers on the day and ran out as comfortable 8-0 victors.
First Division Railway Club also went down on their travels, in their case losing 2-1 to Taunton club Clavel.
On their away trip to MBFC, Second Division high-flyers Flag Old Boys held their Yeovil-based opponents at 1-1 until the ninetieth minute when MBFC snatched it with a late winner.
Tiger Old Boys' away tie against Rangers Init FC was postponed and will now be played next Sunday 28th November instead.
No result was received from the tie between Durleigh and Keynsham Venturers while Cannington were unable to fulfill their away tie against Bristol side Stockwood Lodge.
DIVISION 1:
The only fixture in the Uxella League's top flight that remained unaffected by the Somerset Cup saw Clearwater leapfrog opponents Red Tile in the table following a 5-2 home victory. Two goals from Lee Pearce, one each from Mike Stone and Colin Searle plus a Tile own goal gave Clearwater the all-important three points. A two-goal response from James "Action Ham" Hamilton was scant consolation for an off-colour Red Tile outfit who will be left feeling disappointed that they have not built upon the great performance from their previous outing at Tiger Old Boys.
DIVISION 2:
Runaway Division Two leaders Tiger OB Reserves suffered a surprise first defeat of the campaign, going down comprehensively 3-0 away to Ashcott, for whom Chris Bell(2) and Chris Murphy scored the decisive goals. It was a competitive encounter but the Tigers didn't seem to be firing on all cylinders on the day. This will be of no consequence to Ashcott who leapfrog Cross Rifles into fourth place in the table on goal difference as a result of this victory.
DIVISION 3:
Normal service appears to have been resumed for Puriton United who got back to winning ways, and move back into second place in the Third Division table, thanks to a 4-3 home victory over Glastonbury Backpackers. United's strikes came courtesy of Rich Harvey, Darryl Taylor, Paul Court and from Matt Holt, who was making a first start at left-back and really caught the eye when he ran the full length of the pitch to smash home a fine goal. Puriton had initially appeared to be in a charitable mood when they gifted a couple of easy goals to the Backpackers following two defensive howlers from player-manager Rich Jennings. However, Jennings went on to redeem himself with a telling pass that set up Dean Taylor for a pinpoint cross to his dad Darryl. Taylor senior didn't need a second invitation to rifle home yet another goal to add to his impressive haul this season.
With waterlogged pitches causing the postponement of the fixtures featuring Sportsman v Artillery, Tor Sports v Admirals Reserves and Glastonbury Sunday v Middlezoy, the only other Division Three result saw a 2-2 draw between Countryman and Pig & Whistle Reserves, for whom Mike Hart and Bob Smith got on the scoresheet.
