REPORT: TIGER OLD BOYS 3 RED TILE 1

Tigers 3 Tile 1
After a great start to the new campaign, the games against Tigers were always going to be the measure of where we were as a team and how much work needed to be done.

Tile were robbed of various players through injury and absence. These included star midfielder Jason McPheat, who was out with a calf Injury. Tile were also without their first three choices of goalkeeper and had to resort to sticking the injured McPheat between the sticks.

Tile started well by having a chance within the opening minute, which was well stopped by the Tigers keeper. The Tigers, who started the game extremely slowly and weathered the storm thrown at them by a battling Tile, then hit back with a sucker punch to take a 1-0 lead.

Tile kept their heads up and kept battling and eventually got a deserved equaliser from James "Action Ham" Hamilton.

The game continued with opportunities coming at both ends without either capitalising on the chances until Tigers scored from a fumbled save from Tile's stand in 'keeper, just before half-time.

Tiles half-time team-talk was one of upbeat views from all, and everyone determined to continue where they left off.

The second half started again with chances opening up at both ends and with both keepers pulling off some excellent saves. Tile looked a very tired team in the last ten minutes, and were eventually undone by some slick passing by the Tigers midfield, finishing the game off 3-1. The Tigers class really showed in the final ten minutes, with the champions playing some great football.

Speaking after the game, Red Tile Manager Andy Staunton commented:

"I am obviously disappointed to have lost, but delighted with the overall performance and feel that my side gave a great account of themselves. I would also like to highlight the great sportsmanship shown by the players, and credit also needs to go to Keith Irish ('Magic') for refereeing the match".

Tile's next game is away to Clearwater on 21st November 2004 at 37 Club Puriton
