DIVISION 1:
Reigning champions Tiger Old Boys opened the new 2004-05 Uxella League campaign in style with a 13-0 home victory over a spirited Clearwater side, the Tigers goals tally being helped along by five strikes from Lloyd Dean and a brace each from Mark Pope and Mike Nicholson.
Last season's Division 2 winners Durleigh also got off to a winning start in the top flight with a 3-1 home win over Railway Club, with goals from John Tait, Lee Blewett and Ian Bellinger.
A Vince Kennedy hat-trick helped Pig & Whistle to a 5-1 victory over Woolavington.
Admirals Landing also secured a comfortable 5-1 home win over new club Cobblestones but Red Tile lost 4-3 at home to Commercial, with three goals for Red Tile's Simon Bone but also, and decisively, for Commercial's Bob Abrams.
DIVISION 2:
Cross Rifles secured a 2-0 home win over North Petherton while Eastover Wanderers lost 4-3 at home to Huntspill Crown with Eastover's goals coming from Geoff Sawyer (2) and Andy Riley.
Despite a Sean O'Neill goal Woolavington Reserves went down 4-1 at home to Black Horse.
Cannington also suffered a heavy home defeat going down 7-2 to Tiger Old Boys Reserves who enjoyed two goals a piece from Trevor Lee, Leighton Davies and Leigh Hurford. Cannington replied with strikes from Bradley Sparrow and a first ever goal at this level for 16-year-old debutant Luke Gregory.
Flag Old Boys began the new season with a 3-2 away win at Ashcott.
DIVISION 3:
The impressive new Artillery line-up continues to demonstrate that they will be serious contenders in Division 3 this season with a 3-0 away win at Admirals Reserves.
Despite taking an early 2-0 lead, the newly resurrected Bridgwater Grasshoppers eventually succumbed 8-3 to a youthful Pig & Whistles Reserves outfit in the blistering heat at Morganians RFC. Fine strikes early on for the Grasshoppers from Bob Kippen, Adam Kinsey and Les Hobbs were eventually cancelled out and then surpassed by a hat-trick from Adam Jenkins and further goals from Mike Hart, Mark Coles, Jamie Evans and Chris Gillard.
Countryman chalked up an opening day win with a 4-3 home victory over Sportsman while Glastonbury Town Sunday were dealt a 6-2 home defeat by Puriton United whose goals came courtesy of a hat-trick from Darryl Taylor, a couple from Will Beggs and one from Ryan Williams.
