MATCHDAY 31 ROUND-UP

The line-up for the final of the Dave Hobbs Cup Final is now known after two pulsating semi-finals.

In the first semi Dave Hobbs holders Tiger Old Boys came from 2-0 down to win 4-3 away to Red Tile. Neil Thompson and Liam Evans had given Tile a superb start but by half-time the scores were level after strikes from Jamie Chillingworth and Nick Keirle. The second period then saw the visitors score twice more through Matt Washer and youngster Max Cushing before a late consolation from Tile's Adam Chappell.

In the other semi there was a major upset as Quantock Pride knocked out highly-fancied Woolavington by a convincing 3-1 margin. The irrepressible James Bawden gave Pride an early advantage from a free-kick after only ten minutes and Kane Pearce doubled their lead by the interval. Paul Goss then scored a third for Quantock later in the second half before a late Woolavington strike reduced the deficit but could not prevent Pride's passage to the final next Sunday.

Elsewhere the action continued in the Uxella League. Only one game took place in Division One with Maltshovel winning 3-1 away to Flag Old Boys after two goals from Jordan Meaker and an Andy Barnett strike. Jamie Stewart had put Flag in the lead after five minutes before the visitors took control.

The second division saw a shock result at the top with Bridgwater Wanderers hammering title rivals Bower United 7-0 to more than compensate for last Sunday's 3-1 away defeat to the same opponents. Dave Baker led the way for the Wanderers with a hat-trick and Darren Hill, Liam Derrick, Steve Baker and Adam Mitchell all joined him on the scoresheet.

There were even more goals in the game between Grasshoppers '05 and Abbey Moor with the lead changing hands several times before Abbey struck the decisive effort late on to win 6-5. George Weston scored twice for the Hoppers.

An Adam Kinsey goal could not prevent Woolavington Reserves from going down 2-1 at home to Huntspill Crowns.

In the remaining game in Division Two, Steve Addicott scored twice on his return for Sportsman in their 2-2 home draw with L & G.
