Like a Duracell-powered Easter Bunny, Red Tile hopped back on top of the Uxella League in their penultimate league fixture of the campaign after finding themselves facing a nine-man Maxwells side. This doesn't always prove to be an easy task as depleted teams often try that little bit harder to frustrate numerically superior opponents. However, on this occasion Tile took full advantage, running out emphatic 14-0 winners. James Hamilton led the way with a four-goal salvo, Shane Thompson hit a hat-trick and Andy Staunton made it six in his last two appearances with a brace. Neil Thompson, Damon Jennings, Andy Smith, Rich Ball and Adam Evans completed the rout.
Quantock Pride registered their eleventh league win of the campaign with a 7-2 trouncing of bottom side Grasshoppers '04. Yet again the sleepy Hoppers conceded an early goal and yet again they displayed admirable battling qualities during the middle part of the game to get themselves back into proceedings through a Liam Moore goal. And yet again they suffered a late collapse as James Bawden eventually found his shooting boots and hit a stunning hat-trick. However, the goal of the game was a wonder volley from Lee Neilson. Dan Spencer (2) and Shane Neilson completed the scoring for Pride. Youngster Sam Peppin responded late on for the visitors.
In the only other game played in the First Division Flag Old Boys made it five wins from their last six games as they won 1-0 away to Railway Club. Fred Hemmings struck the decisive goal just after half-time.
Meanwhile in Division Two it proved to be an "eggsellent" Easter Sunday for second-placed Bridgwater Wanderers who came away from their tough away trip to leaders and title rivals Cannington with a superb 6-1 victory. Not only that but they later discovered that third-placed Admirals had been beaten heavily away to Bower United.
It is shaping up to be an interesting battle at the top of the second division with Bower looking to come up on the rails with a late surge if they manage to win their games in hand. They certainly did their bit on this occasion as they beat Admirals 7-1 after two goals a piece from Luke Manley, Steve Hall and Jon Harriott. Jarrid Mackay scored the other. Martin Cheese hit Admiral's consolation effort.
Blake Old Boys top scorer Kev Warre was in red-hot form again as he hit all four of Blake's goals in their 4-2 away win at Woolavington Reserves. His season's tally now stands at 48.
A man with a slightly less impressive goals-per-game ratio is Grasshoppers '05 veteran defender Shaun Meare who struck the Hoppers Reserves effort in their home encounter with basement rivals Ramblers. It was his first goal for over sixteen years but it wasn't enough to secure anything from the game as the visitors went on to win 2-1.
Two strikes from Paul Burrow and one from Richard Cattell gave Huntspill Crowns a 3-2 home win over Coxley Rovers.
In the remaining game in the second flight, Pawlett Reserves stole all three points with a last minute goal that gave them a 3-2 home win over L & G. Dean Fury hit both goals for L & G.
