There was a limited number of Uxella League games this weekend following the decision that any side with under-18 players involved in the day's Durnford Cup tie would have their league match postponed.
As such, only two games went ahead in the first division. One of them saw Tiger Old Boys return to the top of the league after a 5-2 away win at bottom side Ashcott. Leighton Davies bagged a hat-trick for the Tigers and Lee Huntley was also on target but the goal of the game was undoubtedly the strike from young Max Cushing who scored a superb bending effort into the top corner from outside the box. A Chris Murphy strike and a first for the club from Leon Wood was Ashcott's response.
The other division one game saw Flag Old Boys run out 4-0 winners over Grasshoppers '04 on a mudbath of a pitch at the Bridgwater Sports and Social Club. Flag took the lead midway through the first half when Andrew Riley coolly slotted home underneath the on-rushing Hoppers keeper when one on one. With the patched-up visitors proving noticably shot-shy Flag eventually pulled clear thanks to an own goal from Hoppers boss Dean Waghorn, a clinical finish from Jamie Stewart and a lobbed effort from a very tight angle from Maciej Hicki.
In division two it proved to be a particularly good day for leaders Cannington. First they consolidated their position at the top of the table with a 5-2 home win over Abbey Moor after strikes from Lee Harvey (2), Liam Barnett, Darryl Taylor and Nathan Chillingworth. Their day then got even better when they learned that second-placed Bridgwater Wanderers lost 4-3 away to Woolavington Reserves after a four-goal salvo from Adam Kinsey.
Huntspill Crowns emerged victorious from their home clash with L & G which they won 2-0 after goals from Ashley Maffingham and Paul Burrow.
In the remaining game in the second division Blake Old Boys ran out 7-2 away winners at Grasshoppers '05. The prolific Kev Warre led the way yet again with five goals that takes his tally for the season to 44. Carl Watts and Mark Coles scored the others. For the second week running 54-year-old Scottish super-veteran Bob Kippen scored both of the Grasshoppers goals.
