MATCHDAY 15 ROUND-UP

It was the day before the day before Christmas and in cold, foggy conditions the Uxella League carried on regardless with plenty of action and a Santa's Sack full of goals.

Tiger Old Boys were initially given a scare by visitors Maltshovel before eventually wrestling control of proceedings after an inspired double substitution. Not long after entering the fray from the bench Jamie Chillingworth and Leigh Hurford helped the home side to pull away with Chillingworth scoring twice and Hurford once. Two further strikes from Aaron Whaites and one from Ian Bellinger sealed a 6-1 win for the Tigers while Paul Organ responded with Maltshovel's consolation.

Flag Old Boys took an early lead at home to Quantock Pride through a Sebastian Mish strike but Pride equalised before the break. The visitors then turned the game around in the second half with James Bawden(2), Paul Bawden and a 35-yard left-footed screamer into the top corner from Paul Goss sealing a 4-2 victory for Quantock. Lee Turner struck a late consolation for Flag.

Red Tile were in particularly good form in the first half of their home encounter with Ashcott and deservedly held a 2-0 lead at the interval after strikes from James Hamilton and Andy Staunton. Ashcott then battled back well in the second half and clawed the score back to 2-2 before Tile stole the three points in the final minute of the game through a Damon Jennings strike.

In Division Two Bridgwater Wanderers remain top after a 4-2 home win over Blake Old Boys. Chris Yates and Kev Warre bagged Blake's goals.

Sportsman and Admirals played out a ten-goal thriller with Admirals eventually emerging triumphant with a 6-4 away win after a hat-trick from Kev Andrews, two from Andy Cheese and one from Martin Cheese. Jack Taylor and Callum Walters both scored twice in reply for Sportsman. Admirals lie in second place on the back of this result.

Cannington are just behind Admirals in third spot after a narrow 3-2 home win over Coxley Rovers thanks to two goals from Josh Turner and one from the evergreen Darryl Taylor.

Despite being bolstered by a number of first team faces Grasshoppers '05 went down 6-1 away to L & G. Lee Fury, Dean Fury, Simon Chidgey, Richard Meek, Darren Cooper and former Hopper Steve Moule were the men on target for the home side.

Huntspill Crowns made it three consecutive victories with a 4-2 home win over Pawlett Reserves. Wayne Barrett scored twice and was joined on the scoresheet by Jon Kear and Chris Farley.

The remaining game in the second division saw Abbey Moor come away from their trip to Ramblers with a comfortable 3-0 win.

The match between Bower United and Woolavington Reserves was abandoned due to heavy fog after 50 minutes and will have to be replayed.
