With start-of-day leaders Maxwells not in action Quantock Pride took full advantage by returning to top spot in Division One after a 6-2 away win over Grasshoppers '04. The Hoppers gave the visitors a fright in the first half by taking a 2-0 lead after two superbly taken free-kicks from Nigel Woodcock. However, a succession of injuries forced the home side to use all three of their substitutes by the beginning of the second period and Quantock were then able to take full control of the game with more than a little help from the irrepressible James Bawden who bagged yet another hat-trick in the process of driving his side on to victory with Shaun O'Brien scoring two.
A similar pattern was played out in the game between Red Tile and Flag Old Boys with Flag being marginally the better side in the first half during which they took a lead through Lee White. The second period then saw Tile turn the game on its head as they ran rampant to eventually emerge 5-1 victors after two goals each from Andy Smith and James Hamilton and one from Olly Smith. Tile go third on the back of this result.
Reigning champions Woolavington are just behind Red Tile in fourth after a narrow 3-2 home win over previously unbeaten Cross Rifles. Matt Blackmore (2) and Matt Fursland scored the winning strikes for Woolavington while Richard Jones replied for the Rifles with two goals of his own.
Highest scorers of the day were Railway Club who hit a magnificent seven past Maltshovel as they ran out 7-2 home victors. John Richards led the way with a hat-trick while Nigel Gillard (2), Lee Hemsley and Robert Trice completed the rout. Josh Bennett scored twice by way of reply for Maltshovel.
In the remaining game in the top flight Ashcott won 3-1 at home to bottom side Pawlett United after two goals from Chris Bell and one from Chris Fletcher.
For the third week running the second division has new leaders with Bower United's consistency finally seeing them rise to top spot after a sixth win from their last seven outings. This time their young side won 4-2 away to a similarly youthful Sportsman outfit. Steve Hall (2), Scott Capel and Shaun Turner scored the winning goals for Bower while Jack Taylor and Matt Parker replied for the home side.
Admirals slip from top to third spot after having to settle for a point from their top-of-the-table clash with Cannington after the two sides played out an entertaining 4-4 draw. Jason Bale, Martin Cheese, Mike White and Stu Croker were all on target for Admirals.
Bridgwater Wanderers go second after a narrow 4-3 win over a battling L & G who twice held the lead during the game before going down 4-3 after a late, late winning strike from the Wanderers. Darren Hill (2), Lee Goss and Dave Baker scored the winning goals for the home side while Dean Fury (2) and Tommy Chidgey responded for L & G.
Skipper AJ Mountain led by example for Pawlett Reserves as he gave them a 1-0 lead over Ramblers but the visitors looked to have secured their first point of the campaign after levelling. However, a strike from supersub Richard Brown and two penalty saves from two different Pawlett keepers, Andrew Prestwick and his replacement Kieran Whitehouse, secured the three points for the home side.
In the remaining game in Division Two Huntspill Crowns won 4-2 away to Coxley Rovers.
