DIVISION 1:
In one of the most predictable results of the weekend all-conquering Uxella League leaders Tiger Old Boys easily overcame plucky strugglers Cobblestones in a comfortable 9-0 home victory at the Bridgwater Sports & Social Club. Mike Nicholson(3) and Richard Onlsow(2) were the main men in a one-sided affair where the Cobblestones goalkeeper distinguished himself on a number of occasions, doing well to keep the scoreline from going into double figures.
Woolavington put Admirals Landing to the sword with a 10-1 hammering thanks to goals from Matt Blackmore(4), Simon Caddy(2), Marcus Butler(2) and Jason Jones(2). The result ensures that they move up one place in the table to third.
Dave Baker was the man-of-the-match in a pulsating clash between Pig & Whistle and Durleigh where Pig eventually emerged as 6-3 winners thanks to a Baker hat-trick and further goals from John Richardson(2) and Mark O'Brien.
Red Tile and Clearwater shared the spoils in a 4-4 draw where Red Tile benefited from three Clearwater own goals and another strike from Ian Luke.
DIVISION 2:
In a similar fashion to their first team, Division Two leaders Tiger OB Reserves were also playing the bottom side in their division and also racked up nine goals in a 9-1 victory over Woolavington Reserves that saw Leigh Hurford bag a hat-trick and further goals from Jamie Chillingworth and Craig Palmer.
Black Horse came away from their trip to Huntspill Crowns with all three points after a 5-2 victory that was secured thanks to goals from Vince Kennedy(2), Kev Price, Matt Milton and Jamie Winter. The result means that Black Horse have now drawn level on points with Flag Old Boys but remain third on goal difference.
North Petherton found themselves 6-1 down at home to Ashcott but dug deep and came roaring back to within a goal of Ashcott, ending up losing 6-5 despite strikes from Mark Mantyk (2), Craig Wright(2) and Lee Chamberlain.
Cross Rifles grabbed another valuable three points to keep them in touch with the leading pack following a 4-1 away win at Eastover.
DIVISION 3:
Something had to give in the battle at the top of Uxella League Division 3 as the two "hundred percenters", Puriton United and Artillery West Huntspill Boys, clashed to decide who are the undisputed top dogs of the third flight. Although Puriton looked to have the game in the bag by holding a 3-1 lead with seven minutes left on the clock it was to be Artillery who ultimately maintained their 100% winning sequence when they staged a late comeback and finished up as 4-3 winners in a keenly contested, cup-tie style atmosphere.
Bridgwater Grasshoppers finally got their campaign going in a sensational "Black Sabbath" encounter at Morganians RFC. At one stage the 'Hoppers were trailing 5-1 but mounted a remarkable second-half fightback to eventually level the game at 6-6. Veterans Rob Whiterod and Steve Hembery both struck with good goals to give the Hoppers an initial glimmer of hope and the introduction of Turkish "super-sub" Erkan provided further energy for their cause but the real hero of the hour was teenage "boy wonder" Adam Kinsey who scored four, including two "Beckham-esque" free-kicks, before going on to secure a priceless first point for the Uxella League's basement boys by confidently converting an equalising penalty in the dying seconds of the game.
Middlezoy Athletic also staged a brave comeback from a 2-0 half-time deficit to secure a 2-2 draw with Countryman thanks to goals from Tom Lind and Mark Modley. The result sets them up nicely for next week's "six pointer" against the Grasshoppers.
Glastonbury Backpackers and Pig & Whistle Reserves also shared a point each in a 2-2 draw while third-placed Sportsman ran out as 5-2 victors away to Admirals Reserves.
