DIVISION 1:
In a rather one-sided encounter Tiger Old Boys continued their perfect Uxella League record with a 7-1 away win at Admirals Landing, thanks to two goals from Mike Nicholson, two from Paul Mear and single strikes from Richard Onslow, Paul Atyeo and, the best of the bunch, from Wilf Davie who dispatched a 25-yard thunderbolt into the top corner to seal yet another victory for the seemingly unstoppable Tigers. The result ensures that they resume their place at the top of the table at the expense of Pig & Whistle, who were enjoying a Halloween holiday.
Thirteen definitely appears to be an unlucky omen for Cobblestones who conceded that number of goals for the third time this season in a 13-1 defeat to a resurgent Red Tile FC. Despite a consolation goal from Cobblestones' Darren Cooper it was a Halloween horror-show for the First Division strugglers as Tile's James Hamilton bagged four goals, Ian Luke racked up a hat-trick, Jason McPheat and Andy Staunton both struck twice and Gary McCready and Sam Walker completed the rout.
Railway Club emerged as 6-2 home victors in their match with Clearwater. Despite a goal each from Clearwater's Steve Spencer and Wes Durston it was Railway who pocketed all three points thanks to a hat-trick from Carl Tucker, two goals from John Richards and one from veteran Nigel Gillard.
Woolavington were left cursing their finishing after wasting numerous goal-scoring opportunities in their away trip to Durleigh. In the end goals from Woolavington's Simon Caddy and Gary Heard were not enough to prevent a 3-2 defeat to Alan Tait's upwardly mobile Durleigh side, who leapfrog Woolavington into third place in the table as a result of this victory.
DIVISION 2:
Top-of-the-table Tiger Old Boys Reserves continued their winning form with a 7-0 away victory at Woolavington Reserves, thanks to a stunning hat-trick from Phil Coombes and further goals from Mark Pitcher, Kered Pople, Matt Washer and, to complete the trouncing, from Nigel Defoe-Venning, who normally plays in goal but demonstrated another side to his game with a superb 20-yarder.
In a battle between the second and third placed teams, Flag Old Boys consolidated their spot in second position with a 4-1 home win over Black Horse. The game began with an even opening spell before Vince Kennedy struck to give the away side the advantage on the half hour mark. This only served to inspire Flag into raising their game and they soon equalised thanks to a Lee White header. Kevin Wheddon then struck with a low drive to give the Old Boys a 2-1 lead at half-time. Flag then pushed on in the second half, with Lee White scoring his second on the hour and he was then denied a hat-trick by the Black Horse keeper before Kevin Wheddon followed in on the rebound to get his second of the game to seal the victory.
Ben Dyer's Cannington chalked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 home victory over Eastover Wanderers. Brad Sparrow and Dyer himself scored the all-important strikes and held on for three invaluable points despite an Eastover consolation strike from Andrew Riley.
The spoils were shared at North Petherton as they entertained Cross Rifles in a pulsating encounter that finished 3-3. Mark Mantyk(2) and Brady Hart got on the scoresheet for the home side while Mike Hawthorne, Paul Cornish and Lee Stentaford responded for the Rifles.
Jody Tidball was man-of-the-match for Ashcott as they put five past Huntspill Crowns in a 5-1 home victory.
DIVISION 3:
Puriton United continued their winning ways with a narrow 3-2 victory over Admirals Reserves. Admirals put up a spirited display and took a deserved lead after ten minutes. The game then ebbed and flowed as Puriton equalised before going on to take a 2-1 lead. Admirals, in turn, responded to level the scores once again and the stage was then set for Daniel Jennings to score the winner on his Puriton debut two minutes from time. The other Puriton goals included another debut goal, this time from Paul Court, and a cracking top-corner effort from outside the box from Ryan Williams.
Artillery WHB also maintained their 100% Uxella League record with a 4-0 home win over Pig & Whistle Reserves, thanks to goals from Liam May(2), Larry Mills and Mark Raymond.
Missing their midfield "engine room" as a result of two freak accidents in the hours leading up to Halloween, Bridgwater Grasshoppers maintained their own different kind of 100% record, going down 7-0 away to Countryman, for whom Colin Blatchford-Brown scored twice and was joined on the scoresheet by Dan Hynds, Ben Birch, Jason Birch, Jerry Whitehouse and Jason Watson.
In the other match in Division Three Glastonbury Backpackers won 4-2 at home to Middlezoy Athletic.
The scheduled fixture between Sportsman and Tor Sports was postponed due to a water-logged pitch.
