A gloriously sunny Easter Sunday morning saw confirmation of the Uxella League's most inevitable storyline as Woolavington sealed the Uxella League title for the second year running and in some style as they put Ashcott to the sword with an 11-1 thumping. Ashcott actually took a surprise early lead but this only served to send the champions into another gear as they ran riot with Matt Fursland and Simon Caddy both bagging four goals and with Matt Blackmore (2) and Marcus Butler completing the rout.
Railway Club confirmed their place as runners-up as they got back to winning ways with a narrow 2-1 home victory over Cross Rifles thanks to goals from Jason Bell and Carl Tucker in a game that was superbly refereed by Mike Hill.
In the battle of third versus fourth Pawlett United emerged as 3-2 winners at home to Red Tile despite two goals from Tile's pacy attacker James Hamilton.
After dropping points during the midweek through some sloppy finishing Tiger Old Boys rediscovered their shooting boots. They ran rampant at Bunch of Grapes ending up 8-1 victors after two goals each from Lee Huntley, Pete Hobbs and 'Shannon' plus further efforts from Jamie Chillingworth and young Max Cushing.
Flag Old Boys mini-revival continued away at Maxwells as Polish striker Michael Baran bagged four more goals in a 5-1 away win with Kyle Winter adding the fifth.
By contrast Grasshoppers '04's mini-slump continued as they conceded a not-so-magnificent seven for the second time in a week as they went down 7-2 away to Maltshovel. This time the damage was mainly done in the first period with Maltshovel leading 5-0 by the break after the young Hoppers saw their key midfielder Liam Wardle hospitalised with knee ligament damage. Steve Davis (2), Darryl Cocks, Paul Organ, R. Dray, A. Walford and Simon Dodden scored for Maltshovel with Jack Taylor scoring both of the vuisitors consolation efforts in the second half as the Hoppers took the game to the home side and might even have reduced the deficit further had their finishing matched their desire.
Having been victorious on Wednesday Quantock Pride made it another three points on Sunday morning with a 2-0 away win at Blake Old Boys and in the process put themselves in the box seat at the top of the second division table, going a point clear of previous leaders Commercial having now played the same number of games. Sean O'Brien and James Bawden scored the goals in the second half.
Continuing the day's theme of four-goal scorers Kev Andrews also went one better than a hat-trick as he helped Admirals to a comfortable 6-0 home victory over Bridgwater Wanderers. Andy Cheese scored twice to complete a good day's work for the Admirals.
Bower United ended their league campaign on a high note with a 3-1 away win at Woolavington Reserves after strikes from Darryl Puddy, Steve Hall and Shaun Turner.
In the remaining game in division two the out-of-towners Countryman and Wookey Sports fought out a 2-2 draw with Wookey left to rue a host of missed opportunities that might have seen them seal all three points from their final league game of the season.
