Only three fixtures survived the overnight galeforce winds and torrential rain as Uxella League sides attempted to contest the second round of the all divisions Dave Hobbs Cup.
The all-First Division clash between Red Tile and Maxwells 37 Club was a tight affair which required extra time after Sam Mullins had given Maxwells an early lead only to see Simon Bone equalise for Tile. Then in the second period of extra time Richard Ball scored the goal that proved to be the winner for Red Tile but there was still time for Maxwells to hit the post in the final seconds.
The tie between Second Division Blake Old Boys and top flight Cross Rifles also went to extra time. The young Blake side took a surprise 2-0 lead thanks to a brace from Ben Howes but an inspirational captain's performance from the Rifles' man of the match Jason Stephenson turned the tie on its head as he struck four goals with Craig McGann adding a fifth to eventually give the Rifles a 5-3 victory. Paul Neal bagged Blake's other goal.
In the all Second Division match between Wookey Sports and Bower United two goals from Jarrid McKay, one from Steve Hall and a superb 35-yard free kick from veteran player-manager Darryl Puddy gave Bower an impressive 4-1 away win. Joynul Ali scored Wookey's consolation effort.
