With torrential rain and fork lightning the order of the day it was perhaps surprising that only one fixture fell foul of the weather with Cross Rifles' Fairfax Park home game against Maxwells being postponed.
An even greater surprise was the margin of victory for Railway Club who entertained their historic rivals Tiger Old Boys and emerged as 6-3 winners over the Uxella League leaders. The goals were shared amongst the Railway team with Barry Hardwell bagging two while Lee Hemsley, Nigel Gillard, Darren Mower and Arron James also contributed to the winning tally.
The league's only remaining 100% record also came to an end today as Pawlett United tasted defeat for the first time since their promotion to the top flight after a revitalised Red Tile beat them 4-2, with 16-year-old Richard Ball being Tile's outstanding player on the day. Adam Evans scored twice for Tile with both coming from free kicks and James Hamilton and Damon Jennings, with an absolute thunderbolt, sealed the victory for the home side. Ryan Williams and Dave Baker responded for Pawlett.
Ashcott took a battering for the second week running as they followed on from last week's 9-0 defeat with a 7-1 reverse at the hands of Squib Madrid for whom Ryan Hobbs scored four and was joined on the scoresheet by Darren Hill and Ian Luke.
Flag Old Boys made it three successive victories as they won 3-1 at home to Grasshoppers '04 after strikes from Danny Crossley, Andy White and Andrew Johnson.
Maltshovel Sports registered their second win of the campaign with a 3-1 home victory over bottom side Bunch of Grapes. Ryan Dray (2) and Simon Dodden scored the goals that sealed the three points.
In the Second Division leaders Commercial lost for the first time this season, 2-1 at home to the youthful Bower United for whom Jarrid McKay scored both goals.
Commercial's defeat means that Huntspill Crowns reclaim top spot after their 3-1 home win over Blake Old Boys. Ian Howgate, Richard Cattell and Jeff Read bagged the goals that sealed the victory.
Admirals remain third after a 2-2 draw at Cannington with Andrew Cheese and Kev Andrews striking for the away side.
Quantock Pride demonstrated that they will almost certainly feature more prominently at the top of the league table when they have played catch-up on the fixtures front as they romped to an 8-1 away win at Grasshoppers '05 in only their fourth game of the season so far. This leaves them unbeaten with three wins and a draw and another ominous aspect of this victory was the four-goal haul of last season's Uxella League top scorer James Bawden who looks to be picking up where he left off. Steve Lock (2), Liam Nash and Shaun O'Brien completed the rout.
Pawlett Reserves will take much comfort from their first points of the season as they lifted themselves off the bottom of the table with a hard-fought 3-1 home win over Countryman after goals from Marcus Slade, Simon Coombes and a Countryman own goal.
In the remaining game in Division Two Woolavington Reserves beat Wookey Sports 2-0.
