The evening action continued in the Uxella League on Wednesday as the season rapidly approaches its conclusion.
While the title has already been bagged by the Woolavington juggernaut there was still plenty of commitment shown as other sides jockeyed to improve their final standings.
Squib Madrid certainly displayed hunger as they put no less than eleven goals past bottom-of-the-table Blake Old Boys in an 11-3 victory.
Tiger Reserves added yet another win to their excellent end of season run, beating Red Tile 2-0 at home.
Cross Rifles welcomed back a number of key players for their home game with Clearwater and warmed up for their imminent Tom Bell Trophy final with an impressive 3-2 victory after two goals from Paul Cornish and one from skipper Jason Stephenson. Sam Mullins and Carl Gymer responded for Clearwater.
Sunday then saw the Rifles contest their eagerly-awaited Tom Bell final against mighty Woolavington but unfortunately for them the fairy tale was not to have a happy ending as they went down 9-2 to a powerful Woolavington side who clinched a much-deserved double in the process after a hat-trick from Ian Bellinger, two from Matt Blackmore and one goal each from Matt Fursland, Marcus Butler, Simon Caddy and Danny Mira.
The other final contested earlier in the day, the Danny Markall Division 2 Cup Final, saw Woolavington's Reserve side pitted against Maltshovel Sports and it was Maltshovel who departed Fairfax Park with the trophy after a 3-1 win thanks to goals from Simon Dodden, Jordan Meaker and an own goal.
There was also a couple of further catch-up games played in the First Division and both featured Tigers sides as they in turn warmed up for their in-club head-to-head league match next Wednesday evening.
In the first game Tiger Old Boys ran out 4-3 winners away to Huntspill Crowns after yet another hat-trick from Mike Nicholson and one from Paul Meare. Paul Burrow, Jeff Read and Brian Read scored Crowns' goals.
The other Tigers outfit, Tiger Reserves, notched up their second victory in five days, climbing to sixth in the table in the process, after winning 6-4 against nine-man Clearwater. Jamie Chillingworth(2), Paul Irvine(2), Matt Washer and Nick Keirle scored the winning strikes for Tiger Reserves while a spirited Clearwater side had Mike Stone(2) and Sam Mullins(2) to thank for keeping them in with a shout of claiming something from their final fixture of the 2005-06 campaign.
