MIDWEEK ROUND-UP

The two finalists for the 2005-06 Tom Bell Trophy Final are now known after the semi-final ties took place last night.

In the first semi Cross Rifles managed something of an upset by beating Red Tile 3-2 despite going 2-1 down at one stage after Liam Evans and a James Hamilton penalty had seemingly put Tile in the driving seat.

The Rifles' opponents in the final will be mighty Woolavington who cruised through their semi final away to Ashcott, eventually winning 4-0 on the night.

Meanwhile, a couple of catch-up games took place in the Uxella League's First Division.

In the first, last weekend's Dave Hobbs Cup winners Clearwater came down to earth with a bump as they lost 4-0 away to Railway Club after goals from Lee Hemsley(2), Barry Hardwell and Bob Abrams.

Having experienced problems in raising a mid-week side due to work commitments, a ten-man Tiger Old Boys eventually managed to emerge victorious from their game against lowly Huntspill Crowns but only by a 1-0 margin.

There was also one catch-up fixture completed in the Second Division and it saw Quantock Pride comfortably beat Admirals 8-2 after another couple of goals from the Uxella League's leading marksman James Bawden.
