Last week Tor Sports had the might of the Lord on their side, this week new signing Mother Nature played her part, although her enthusiasm for extreme weather football very nearly resulted in the game being abandoned due to the volume of water hurled down over the past 48 hours.
Thankfully the game went ahead and Tor recorded their best result of the season so far. Much is owed however to young striker Nick Sarjeant who spent forty minutes before the game with a spade, fork and broom clearing the many puddles which resembled small eastern European countries in size, to ensure the game went ahead.
The first half was an even affair with goals from John Osman and Paul Pentney giving the home team a slender 2-1 lead at half time. The second half however was to be a different game as the conditions played their part in helping Tor score three goals in a ten-minute spell which proved to allow them an unassailable lead. Admirals managed to rally, however, but after going toe to toe, both sides managed a further two goals a piece with Tor's Nathan Truckle and Paul Pentney completing their first hat-tricks of the season.
A mention has to go out to the Tor back line who kept the hosts in the game with some solid defending, especially from joint man of the match Robin Birchenough, who shared the award with hat-trick hero Truckle.
"The all-round work rate of the team was excellent and every member of the team played their part. The midfield especially worked hard and did the dirty work that goes unnoticed. The rest did the work that just got them dirty!"
